The decision is an about-turn for the 20-year-old, who had indicated he would take a short break after playing at the Monte Carlo Masters this week.

The Scot made it to the third round at Monte Carlo - a career-best performance on clay in a Masters event - but was well beaten by Novak Djokovic.

Murray is familiar with Barcelona, having lived in the city as a teenager.

He moved there when was 14-years-old and attended the Schiller International School, training on the clay courts of the Sanchez-Casal Academy.
